The Criterion Channel presents: John Turturro
Nine Orchard and The Criterion Channel are delighted to celebrate John Turturro with an intimate Monday evening event inside the West Room. In conversation with author Isaac Butler, he will explore his work as an actor, director, and a movie lover.
Born in New York City, Turturro has appeared in over 60 feature films, working frequently with the Coen brothers and Spike Lee. He has also directed eight films, three of which, Mac, Romance & Cigarettes, and Fading Gigolo, will stream on the Criterion Channel beginning in November 2024, alongside a program of some of his favorite films, including Seven Samurai, Rocco and His Brothers, and The Lady Eve.
Isaac Butler is the author of The Method: How the 20th Century Learned to Act, which won the 2022 National Book Critics Circle Award for nonfiction. His work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times, T Magazine, Slate, The Wall Street Journal and many other publications.
